Mexican Constitution ceremony

Dear 8th grade students:

As you know, next Tuesday, February 5th, we're going to have the ceremony for the Mexican Constitution, so we need to get ready, I've already found some links that may help you. The information is entirely in English, which means that the ceremony will be held in the same language. I will coach you through the week with the pronunciation, but we need to get the text ready to get the rolls you are going to play and also to get the material ready. If you have any doubts please contact me via e-mail or post here your doubts.

Sincerely Miss Jenni ;D

The Green Glass Doors!

Hello Kids, let's play something online.
This game is called "Green Glass Doors"

Let's imagine that I'm outside a place with Green Glass Doors, and I'm the only one who knows the secret to get in and bring something from the inside. You are supposed to ask what you can and can't bring from the other side of the green glass doors. I will give some clues (examples of how it's played) and you have to continue asking, if you get it right, you will be able to go through the Green Glass Doors. If you know the secret of how to get through the doors, please don't tell the others and keep on playing, to see if they get it.
Let's begin!

I'm going through the green glass doors and I'm bringing cookies but not cupcakes.
I'm going through the green glass doors and I'm bringing a poodle but not a dog.
I'm going through the green glass doors and I'm bringing the moon but not the sun.
I'm going through the green glass doors and I'm bringing Harry Potter but not Ron Weasley.

About British food

Dear Students:

We are going to get busy learning about food and services, like restaurants. So I thought it would be nice if we get involved into the English culture.
Remember there are many countries speaking the language and sharing traditions.
Here I leave you a link to a site so you can start checking it. ;D

Vincent

Vincent Malloy is ________ years old

He’s always _______ and does what he’s told

For a boy his age, he’s ___________ and nice

But he wants to be just like Vincent Price

He doesn’t mind living with his sister, dog and cats

Though he’d rather share a home with _________ and _______

There he could reflect on the ____________ he’s invented

And wander dark ____________, alone and tormented

Vincent is nice when his _________ comes to see him

But imagines dipping her in wax for his wax museum

He likes to experiment on his dog Abercrombie

In the hopes of creating a horrible __________

So he and his horrible ____________

Could go searching for __________ in the London fog

His thoughts, though, aren’t only of __________ crimes

He likes to paint and read to pass some of the times

While other kids read books like Go, Jane, Go!

Vincent’s favourite author is Edgar Allen Poe

One night, while reading a ___________ tale
He read a passage that made him turn pale

Such horrible news he could not survive

For his beautiful _______ had been buried alive!

He dug out her _________ to make sure she was dead
______________ that her grave was his mother’s flower bed

His _______ sent Vincent off to his room

He knew he’d been _____________ to the tower of doom

Where he was ________________ to spend the rest of his life

Alone with the portrait of his beautiful _______

While alone and insane encased in his ________

Vincent’s mother burst suddenly into the room

She said: “If you want to, you can go out and play

It’s ________ outside, and a beautiful day”

Vincent tried to talk, but he just couldn’t speak

The years of isolation had made him quite _______

So he took out some paper and scrawled with a pen:

“I am ____________ by this house, and can never leave it again
”
His mother said: “You’re not possessed, and you’re not almost dead

These _______ that you play are all in your head

You’re not Vincent Price, you’re _________________

You’re not tormented or insane, you’re just a young boy

You’re ________ years old and you are my ________

I want you to get _____________ and have some real fun.”

Her anger now spent, she walked out through the ______

And while Vincent backed slowly against the wall

The room started to swell, to shiver and creak

His horrid insanity had reached its peak

He saw Abercrombie, his zombie slave

And heard his ___________ call from beyond the ___________

She spoke from her ______________ and made _____________demands

While, through cracking walls, reached _______________ hands

Every _____________in his life that had crept through his dreams

Swept his mad laughter to terrified screams!

To escape the madness, he reached for the door

But fell limp and ______________ down on the floor

His voice was soft and very slow

As he quoted The Raven from Edgar Allen Poe:

“and my soul from out that shadow
that lies floating on the floor
shall be lifted?
Nevermore…”
